Grilled Cheesus
It's always interesting to learn about other people's worldviews. It seems like most television producers do not have a Christian view point. I wonder why they feel the need to poke fun at our religion? I was not here Friday when we watched the beginning of the Glee episode in class, but it didn't take long to see that the makers of this show were probably not Christians. I think the writers steriotyped the Christian religion. I wonder if all non believers think that all chruch services are like that. Old people are all up and dancin and shoutin and the choir is goin nuts. I know that it really doesn't matter what music you listen to in chruch, but if non believers think that church is just a bunch of old people and gosple music it might make them not want to go and hear the good news of Jesus. They dramatized praying a little bit I think, but praying is good and everyone should do it. I think it showed how a lot of people might feel about being alone. I think a lot of unbelievers feel the same as Fin when he realized that the Idol he was praying to was not real. He felt empty and alone and like he was searching for something. Although this show had an overall negative perspective on Christianity, I think it had some good points.

I agree with the the statement about Fin being alone and how others may feel the same way. I'm sure it happens a lot when their prayers aren't answered immediately or in the way they wanted them to be answered.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with the statment you made about Fin. And really it makes me very sad. I know and you know that our God is a god of love. I know and you know that our God is Love. I really like this blog. It made me think of a couple things that I hadn't thought of before!! Great Job!!!!
ReplyDeleteBrooke,
ReplyDeleteGood Job! I really agree with what you said about Finn. He does seem lost and confused like he is searching for something to lead him and help him. It is sad that he didn't find God. I think that he was really feeling empty because he didn't know God. This is probably true for a lot of people in the world. It is really sad.
Good Job!

Brooke, I absolutely agree with you! The writers did sterotype our religion, as many people tend to do nowadays. That's not entirely their fault, though. When enough Christians act fake, it leaves an impression. Modern media takes advantage of that and twists it into an inaccurate portrayal. To counteract this, we need to stand up for the truth of Christianity, and live out our faith every day. Great thoughts!!

Dear Brooke,
ReplyDeleteI agree! there are some points that they portrayed correctly but there are points, like the church, that were slightly dramatized. Finn believed in something that wasn't real, but when he did believe in it, he put all his heart into the faith he had for that short time. Great job!

I think that you're right about the writers stereotyping our faith. It is really sad to see that that is how they think our relationship with God is like. I wonder who they saw who claimed to be a Christian that would make them think that way about all Christians? Good job, Brooke!
ReplyDeleteBrooke, i like what you're saying and i agree. The writers/producers of this show definitely don't understand Christianity. Maybe that is the fault of the body of Christ for giving them these misconceptions. nice blogin.
